Washington, D.C. – Louis Berger Power was recently awarded a four-year contract to continue operations and maintenance support to the 5MW central power plant and base-wide primary distribution system on the U.S. military’s New Kabul Compound in the city of Kabul, Afghanistan.
Serving on base since 2012, Louis Berger previously performed the rehabilitation and expansion of the pre-existing facility. Louis Berger’s current scope includes power plant and grid operations, along with scheduled, preventive and emergency maintenance, plus perimeter lighting and incidental construction.
“Louis Berger Power is staunchly committed to providing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and our deployed forces with safe and reliable prime power and we are extremely pleased to have this opportunity to continue mission support on New Kabul Compound,” said Louis Berger Power senior vice president Raymond J. Mardini. Mardini went on to add, “There has not been a single recorded power outage on base since September 26, 2016, and this is a reflection of the dedication and outstanding performance of our assigned team, to include the technical support we receive from Cummins Power Generation.”
